Throwing Caution...Weekly Weight Update

Over the last two weeks or so I have had trouble sleeping. If I wasn't tossing and turning trying to turn of my brain I was watching TV or playing video games trying to distract it. I didn't want to go to sleep because it meant I had to do something I had come to dread; go to work the next day. So after weeks of sleepless nights, long conversations with my family, and deep soul searching I threw caution to the wind and took a leap. On Monday I submitted my letter of resignation, giving six weeks notice that I'm leaving my job.

Run Run...Weekly Weight Update

Summer is drawing to a close and I for one and looking forward to the end. I don’t get along well with the heat. A run that was pretty easy and quick in March or April has turned into an agonizing 40 minutes of non-stop sweat and near heat stroke. I’m looking forward to the cool evenings where I can see my breath with each stride on my run and feel the chill tingle my nose.

Green Beanniversary

Believe it or not, it has been a year since I started this little blog. The original goal was to have a place to document my weight loss journey. It was a place for me to make sure I was accountable for my diet and exercise program. It was a place for me to put out in the public my successes and my failures when it came to my health.

Hot-Lanta...Weekly Weight Update

The week was full of ups and downs when it comes to managing weight and exercise. Sunday was the first full day spent in Atlanta after a very long day of traveling. We started the day by finding a local spot for breakfast so we made our way to the Atlanta Breakfast Club which was just a few steps away from our hotel and located directly across the street from the Coca-Cola experience in downtown Atlanta. The food was absolutely amazing. After seeing everyone sitting around us dining on the chicken and waffles I really wanted to get that southern delicacy but I also knew that I would be getting multiple chances and fried chicken during the few days I’d be in Atlanta. Instead I got a basic breakfast of eggs, bacon, and cheese grits. It was out of this world good and if you are looking for a place to get some breakfast in Atlanta make sure to look this place up.

In the Desert…Weekly Weight Update

The week started out with a bang. I knew I was going to be going out of town for work for the week so I wanted to make sure that I got in a good workout. I woke up and headed over to Orange Theory Fitness first thing on Sunday morning. That workout always destroys me but I suppose that is a good thing. The best part was running into my good friend, Melanie, in the parking lot. She was on her way in while I was on my way out. There isn’t anything quite as nice as running into an old friend.

The Real World...Weekly Weight Update

After a few weeks of on and off vacation it is no surprise that it is challenging to get back into the real world. What do you mean I should watch what I eat and not have a beer with every meal? You mean I have to go to work for 5 consecutive days? In a row? You must be crazy! I just spent over a week in New England followed by a long weekend at the beach. Ugh, it was tough.

Shipping up to Boston...Weekly Weight Update

From a weight loss perspective this week couldn't have been worse (except, of course, for the upcoming week). There were two major events that occurred this week that would cause anyone to fall off the wagon, so to speak, when they are in mid-weight loss: (1) the United States of America celebrated it's 240th + two days birthday on Monday, July 4th, and (2) it was the week before a vacation. How could I have been expected to stick to a diet plan with those temptations?

5K...Weekly Weight Update

This week’s weekly weight update is going to focus on one day and that is Tuesday. The rest of the week would be rather mundane for those regular (or not so regular) readers of this blog. It was a very simple week (wake up, go to work, come home, work out, play with Cece, go to bed, rinse, repeat). However, on Tuesday of this week my company signed up to run/walk a 5K as a firm. It was interesting.

Dads...Weekly Weight Update

As I'm sure you are all well aware, last week we celebrated Father's Day. Every year my sister and I ask my Dad what he wants for Father's Day. Every year we get the same answer: "I just want to be acknowledged that I'm your Father". Dad is a simple guy with simple needs. He loves his family above all else and doesn't need gifts or even time of to relax. All the guy has ever wanted was for his family to be safe and happy. OK, so sometimes he wants a beer with lunch, but that is it.
