Burnt Out...Weekly Weight Update
Man, do I need a vacation? I can't wait to get away from work for a week straight and just relax. It's not like work is terribly busy this time of year but I haven't been away for a while which makes the simplest tasks seem dreadful. I didn't even get up the energy to write this blog post until 6:55pm on Saturday night while Cece was taking a bath and only because I made a promise to myself that I wouldn't miss out on a blog day for at least a year. I'm sure my 7 readers wouldn't mind me skipping just one day. But I didn't because I care.
The week was pretty uneventful as far as dining and exercise is concerned. That is, of course, until Friday. I knew I had time that I would have to take off or I would lose the vacation time (and, as I mentioned, I'm feeling a bit burnt out with work and exercise so I needed a day of rest) so I decided I'd take off Friday. Instead of hanging out with the kid she went to her regularly scheduled day care and I went to the movies. That meant I ate a bunch of popcorn at 9:10am. It also meant that I had a big sandwich for lunch. It also meant that I barely moved all day long so I didn't get very many steps.
Seeing as it was Friday it also meant that it was Friday Night Live in downtown Herndon. We went up to enjoy the festivities which included eating a massive burger, half of a huge brownie, and a wonderful craft beer. It was a blast as always and don't worry, I also had a beer when we got home from the show.
I did buy some new clothes this week for casual wear. I purchased two pair of what I call my "dress shorts" which are shorts for situations where normal people would wear either nice jeans or khakis. I also bought a pair of cargo shorts and a new shirt. These purchases taught me how much clothes can really make you look slimmer or bulkier. I give to you two pictures taken on the same day as some support.
First, here is a picture of me in what I was wearing that day which are clothes that are much too big for me after losing some weight but I still wear because I hate to purchase new clothes.
Not bad. Now here is a picture taking literally seconds later in my new clothes.
Maybe it is just in my head but I everyone that says having clothes that actually fit are far more flattering than wearing clothes that are too baggy or too tight. I didn't realize how bulkier my clothes made me look even after losing weight. I always purchased cloths that were bigger and baggier because I felt more comfortable and I felt like it did help in covering up some of the fat. Just ask any fat person and they will tell you that there is nothing more uncomfortable than the feeling of cloth against your stomach. Maybe it was just me but I always made sure my shirt was big enough to be flow around the gut because the feeling of any material against my stomach made me feel like my shirt was too tight. The shirt in the second picture above certainly touches my stomach so it is a bit of an adjustment and takes some getting used to but I think it looks more flattering that then shirt in the first picture.
After splurging on food and drink on Friday I wasn't very confident going into Weight Watchers. I figured if I could simply maintain it would be a win and on the off chance I was able to lose .8 lbs I would be ecstatic because that would get me another massage. Instead I was disappointed when I went in and gained .8 lbs. I worked hard last week to lose one pound and then I gave it all up for some popcorn and beer (cue sad music). That still keeps me under the 60 lbs mark at a total weight loss of 61 lbs and a current weight of 206.4. I suppose it just means it is time to buckle down again and avoid the popcorn.
I dominated the Bring It On! challenge this week. I mean I seriously crushed it! I set the record for the most miles in a week at 47.7. That bites for Rizzo as she did great with 45.1 miles but I was on a blistering pace. I have a healthy lead at 8.3 miles for the month, 136.0 to 127.7, but I can't slow down. I don't want Rizzo to win the challenge this month when I may possibly be able to see He-Man!
